Morrigan Dagda are a ceilidh band based in Dorset.
Performing since 2008, Morrigan Dagda are the perfect ceilidh band for any event. Big or small, wedding reception or barn dance, Morrigan Dagda will leave your guests desperate to hear more and dance on through to the early hours of the morning.
Morrigan Dagda’s journey started in 1999, when the young celtic rock ceilidh band Beltaine performed at Gold Hill Fair. Sam Lifton (brother of Dan Lifton, former drummer of Beltaine) watched their headline set in utter admiration. At only 14 Sam was new to writing music but never the less, started his own band and began performing at local gigs and ceilidhs with likeminded musicians and ceilidh bands.
In 2006 Brothers Dan Lifton and Sam Lifton formed the ceilidh band Brementown; Fusing folk, with funk ska and rock rhythms. Brementown performed as a ceilidh band at events across the south for two years before Dan took a year out to spend time in Australia travelling.
During this time Sam relocated to Oxford and set up the Ceilidh band Morrigan Dagda with original Brementown bassist Guy Readman and Accordionist Andy Helson. Char Sivier later joined the band on flute and piccolo with James Esplin accompanying on guitar.
To date Morrigan Dagda have performed as a ceilidh band at events across the south and throughout the midlands including weddings, barn dances, ceilidhs and festivals.
Morrigan Dagda are proud to have collaborated with ceilidh bands across England and have links with callers and Ceilidh Bands throughout the UK.
